The purpose of the Association is to educate, develop,and maintain excellence in basketball officiating through:

1. The study and discussion of rules and their application
2. Demonstration and practice of correct officiating mechanics and techniques
3. Selection of officials who embody the philosophies of the Association

The Association shall also foster positive personal relationships among its membership.

To that end, the Association is a recognized official’s association of the Illinois High School Association (commonly known as the IHSA) and will work with that organization to promote officiating and the recruitment of new officials.
