WBOA Family,

The 2026—2027 Basketball season is drawing near. And your WBOA Board has been planning a busy suite of pre-season activities to help get us all ready to go.   We also have a clinic to offer as well.

Our meetings will be every Tuesday in October at Lisle High School, at 7:00PM. The goal will be to be done by around 8:30, but you’ll note below, a couple of our meetings will definitely be hitting the 9:00PM mark due to the amount of content we are presenting.

The clinic classroom and optional games will be at Montini as indicated below.

Tuesday, October 6  – Topics include discussions led by various board members on the Mentor Program, IHSA Ratings, the new IHSA Arbiter / Officials Center, and more!

Tuesday, October 13 – Topics include rules and points of emphasis updates, and 2/3 person mechanics including on court. Our guest speakers will be IHSA Clinicians and rules interpreters Fred Allman and Mark Siekierski

Tuesday, October 20 – Amanda Nelson will be presenting about Special Olympics, assignors Jason Shook and Mark Witzke will be doing a presentation on Shot Clock, and Joe Spagnolo will have another great presentation.

Tuesday, October 27 – Part One test review

Clinic info:  The WBOA Clinic classroom will be on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:00-9:00 PM at Montini Catholic in Lombard.   There will be an optional observed games component the Saturday prior, October 24, in the afternoon (exact times, TBD).

There are two ways to send your membership dues:

1)    Electronically via Zelle. You can scan the QR code provided in the online membership form, or pay to the email wboa.illinois@gmail.com.

2)    Via paper check payable to Western Basketball Officials Association. You can mail it to the address provided or hand it to Vice at one of our upcoming meetings in October.

We will be meeting on the Tuesday’s in October at 7:00PM at Lisle High School.

Topics will include Special Olympics, 2 and 3 person mechanics and rule interpretations, shot clock, and MORE!

We will also have an IHSA Part 1 clinic on, tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, between 6:00PM and 9:00PM at Montini Catholic High School in Lombard. On Saturday, October 24, there will be the opportunity to volunteer for some games and receive observation, in the afternoon.
